San Diego is a forgotten treasure in California. People usually visit LA and San Francisco but miss San Diego, which is a pity because it’s awesome! Not many people know that it’s the 8th biggest city in the USA!
We went to the harbour, the Old Town and Skyline neighbourhoods, and the Mount Soledad landmark. The top of Mount Soledad has the best views of the city, which we were really impressed by! San Diego is known for its Mexican roots and in Old Town these roots are clearly visible.

The first residents of San Diego were the Kumeyaay’s, with artefacts dating back 9,000 years found in the area. When the Spanish arrived in 1769, they went up the hills and settled there. We visited the spot where the first colonial houses were built, the birth place of San Diego. It was like we had stepped into the Wild West. We stumbled upon an event with lots of music and dancing, which was really nice. Not all the houses are the originals, but they’ve made really good replicas. It was a huge tourist trap, but a nice one.
